Pop the cork on the champagne bottle! I'm finished my unofficial first draft. All the ideas that were percolating in my head are now captured in a word document. The first draft weighs in at 75 pages and 35,900 words. I'm thrilled that I was able to push myself over the last couple of days to finish the manuscript.
Everything is still rough and there are tons of things I need to do in revisions before I can call this the official first draft, but I now have something I can shape into a novel. I'm going to celebrate with a bike ride and a few days away from the book (I need to regain objectivity).
Once I've had my break, I'm going to push hard next week and do some revisions on the novel before my vacation. I'm hoping that I can push hard and do 5,000 words of revisions per day. Second drafts are easier to work on than first drafts, so I think I'll be able to get a decent pass done. Yay!
