Mayfield Rocks

I'm in the middle of a great residency at Mayfield School. The kids are coming up with some great ideas and their sense of story is really sharp. I have to stay on my toes, because these guys are coming up with better stories than I can. It's a relief to work with students who are excited about writing and with staff who really care about the kids. Other than getting lost a couple of times in the hallways, I've been having a great time.

Teachers, parents, interested writers and grammarians - hear my words...

This man, the Main Man Marty Chan, provided the best week of writing instruction for K - gr. 6 I could have imagined. Please feel free to contact Marty for my information if you would like to see some of the stunning results of his workshop. Some preparation was given for students prior to his arrival but, for the most part, he flew with engaging, informative lessons that empowered students to take the illusive, abstract world of writing to the tangible and concrete universe of text.

On behalf of Mayfield - THANKS AGAIN MARTY!
