The martial arts musical with book and lyrics by Marty Chan and lyrics and music by Robert Walsh will be landing on the Shoctor Stage at the Citadel Theatre this fall.
The story about the bachelor men, early Chinese immigrants who helped build the railroad but weren't allowed to bring their families to Canada because of a head tax, is touching and heart breaking. Fusing the styles of Chinese opera and western musical theatre, The Forbidden Phoenix promises to be a spectacle for your ears and eyes.
A staged reading was performed in April 2008. If you'd like to see photos from the staged reading, please click on this link. Photos were by Epic Photography/
